La Herencia Cubana robusto
Some time ago I smoked this A.J. Fernandez made La Herencia Cubana oscuro fuerte robusto and loved it. Now this is the normal La Herencia Cubana blend, a Nicaraguan cigar with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and a 5x50 size.
I see a nice medium dark wrapper with a few veins that make the cigar look rough and tough. I like the band. The cigar has a nice wood and barnyard smell. The construction feels good. The predraw is on the loose side and I taste a spicy and peppery raisin flavor. The first flavors are spicy, lots of herbs and mild bitter. Dry and full. The flavors are also mild sweet. After half an inch the flavors get a little less spicy and full, but they remain mild bitter. After an inch the bitterness disappears and I taste a mild chocolate flavor with the spices and herbs. I taste herbs with some wood and spices and that's it. No development on the palate afterwards, just more of the same. Near the end I get a splash of black pepper. This cigar has a smoke time of an hour and ten minutes. I got a lot of thick smoke. The draw is on the loose side. The medium gray ash is firm. I had a couple of burn issues and the purge is huge. This cigar is full flavored and full bodied. Would I buy this cigar again? It is a nice cigar, but I like the oscuro fuerte better. Appearance: 8 / 10 Construction: 7/ 10 Draw: 6 / 10 Burn: 7 / 10 Smoke & ash: 8 / 10 Aroma first part: 6 / 10 Aroma second part: 7 / 10 Aroma third part: 7 / 10

Re: La Herencia Cubana robusto
Nice review Ferdie. I love the LHC Oscuro Fuerte, but didn't care for the LHC at all.

Re: La Herencia Cubana robusto
Just smoked one last night and have the oscuro in the humi.
I liked this one. Huge peppery flavor but only a medium bodied cigar. Seems a good one to smoke back to back or whenever you want a ton of flavor without the heavy strength. Also seems a good cigar to introduce a less experienced smoker to the flavor profile without knee knocking nicotine. I like strong cigars and this one won't be an all the timer. But i'll likely snag a 5 pack. Fits a nice niche for the right time or mood. |

Re: La Herencia Cubana robusto
The OF is definitely the better of the two, but I did smoke a whole box of these over golf season. I noticed that they were very finicky in damp weather. On wet days, even early in the morning with dew on the ground, I'd have burn issues and get a little of that bitterness Ferdie mentioned. When it was dry, no burn issues or bitterness.
