Don Van Vliet, avant-guard artist and musician, best known as Captain Beefheart of his Magic Band, and a man so oddly out there it took no less a genius than Frank Zappa to discover him, died yesterday in California.

Take a moment to remember him, those of you who do, for this Trout Mask will not be Replicated again.

Saw that yesterday.

He was one of my all time favorites, and a musical genius of a level hardly ever seen.
