Default cigar wrappers?

I am looking for info on cigars wrapper tastes and the differences between the various wrappers.

For example: What is the taste profile of an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper. If someone tell me that such and such cigar has a wrapper like that what does it tell me. What tastes come from tobacco grown in Ecuador that I might not find in other countries? What does the tobacco's seed origin of Sumatra tell me about that tobacco?

I am looking for a website or posting that might breakdown that kind of info for me. I know that by smoking more and more I might slowly taste the differences. I am trying to get a better general knowledge of tobacco and how their seed origin and the country that they are grown in effect the tobacco's taste. That way when I am out shopping I will have a good idea of what a cigar might taste like before I buy it.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Look for La Aurora's King of the Jungle Sampler on this page

It has the same cigar in five different wrappers. It may not be exactly what you're looking for but it should give an interesting insight into wrapper flavor.

Thanks for showing me that deal I might just try that sampler, but what I am looking for is more detailed written info about cigar wrappers and their differences. So when I smoke that sampler I have an idea of what I am looking for taste wise in each cigar.

Everybody’s tastes are different. For example, one person might taste cocoa or coffee flavors while another will taste woody flavors from the same brand of cigar. One man’s favorite cigar is another man’s dog rocket. Sample as many different brands as you can and keep notes on origin, wrapper type, size, taste, etc.

I know that a leafs time/location on the plant effects flavor and strength. I have read The Complete Idiot's Guide To Cigars several times as well as The Ultimate Cigar Book, The Good Cigar, and The Cigar. While these books do a good covering the basics, with The Complete Idiot's Guide To Cigars and The Ultimate Cigar Book going into for detail than the others, none go very deep into how the growing and the soil content, that varies from country to country, effects the characteristics of tobacco.

Good recommendation. I would try many different wrappers from one company in order to determine best the flavor profiles of different wrappers.
If you're taste-testing wrappers, stick w/ one company while you do. Then branch out to any and everything.

OR

Smoke cigars of the same wrapper by many different companies, then move on to another wrapper and do the same.

The wrapper leaf does not necessarily determine the flavor of the cigar. It all depends on how the manufacturer blends. The filler and binder are also big contributors to the flavor.
