I use real sugar, not syrup. And gotta have the bitters.
1/2 lime 6 mint leaves a pour of fine baking sugar splash of bitters smash it all up ice on top good pour of montezuma premium rum top it off with club soda and then add bitters to taste This is the recipe I got from the Havana Cafe here in Phoenix.
