The Melting Pot in Front Royal, VA.
We ate there once when staying in Front Royal for our anni. When we pass that way we stop in just for a pizza now. (and a frozen custard at Spelunkers). |

Ultimately, living out in BFE limits my pizza options. However, we do have this place and I love it (mostly because I can cook the pizza to my tastes, and the thin crust Deelites I'm digging):
http://www.papamurphys.com/ Do need to spend more time exploring the Portland area for good pizza joints. |

Around here unfortunately we have chains. I like Barro's best. Although Canelli's down in Queen Creek is really good it's just too far.

I make no claims that any of these are "the best" in the nation (which is a retarded notion, anyway)...but these are joints I've enjoyed, and if you're visiting any of these places, they're worth checking out:
* Austin - I have three I frequent **Mangia - Chicago pie-style - http://www.mangiapizza.com/ **Salvation - Cracker-thin crust - http://salvationpizza.com/ **Southside Flying Pizza - Outstanding red sauce & oven-fired - http://www.southsideflyingpizza.com/ * Stillwater, OK - Hideaway Pizza (it's different/better than the ones in Tulsa and OKC) - http://www.hideawaypizza.net/ * Salida, CO - Amica's Pizza & Brewery - http://www.amicassalida.com/ * Chicago - the previously mentioned Giordano's

I second this . I drive an hour and a half a couple times during the winter just to cure my hole families craving . You can actually taste all 3 ingredients , the crust , the sauce and the cheese . Put some pepperoni on top or whatever and it only gets better ! I happen to work in South Philly and have never found a great pizza place , one would think that with all the Italians living there that great pizza would be on almost every corner . If anyone knows of any great pizza in South Philly , please let me know where .

Usually have a Peppino's pizza on Sunday nights.
We also have a great little pizza shop in Grand Haven call Fricano's that is a pizza destination around these parts. |

I've regularly ordered delivery from those two, but favorite pizza joint? I don't think either one has a dining area.
In Houston my favorites are: Pizza Roma on Diary Ashford. (closed) Barry's Pizza on Richmond. Best Sicilian now that Pizza Roma is closed. Star Pizza. Very good, not great pizza, but a great pizza joint. atmosphere. For a franchise pizza joint I think Russo's New York Pizzeria is awesome. You can't beat the XL 28" for parties. Quote:
Recently a Red Elephant Pizza opened in town. Two thumbs up. |
