Any thoughts on 45 GAC?
I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a new Glock 45 GAC but I don't have any experience with that cartrige. Any likes, dislikes? Thoughts in general? Am I better off getting a 40 instead?

Re: Any thoughts on 45 GAC?
do you mean the GAP?
Depends on how much you plan on shooting and your budget, and if you reload. For a long while, it will be a "boutique" round, costing quite a bit more to get (and stay) proficient on, I imagine. |

Re: Any thoughts on 45 GAC?
I have a Glock 37, which is a full size .45 GAP.
Don't bother, the ammo is expensive. |

Most reports from my friend's gun store are that it sucks.
.45 ACP ...over 100 years tried and true and you can buy a box of ammo in friggin Zimbabwe. All the thumping power you need.

mines a light weight commander, light as any glock or what have you.
I carry 20+ rounds ... If I need more than that what the hell was I doin in that kind of place in the first place ?? The last time I needed more than 20 rounds was in Lebanon

Re: Any thoughts on 45 GAC?
I put in another vote for 45ACP and a Glock 21. Love mine, but I have large hands so I can handle it better.
Before committing to something, go to a gun shop that has rentals available and try out a handful of different pistols. I can say from experience, that was what lured me into the Glock 21 in the first place. Now I'm eyeballing the Gen4 Glocks as something to buy next. Shot one a few months ago (in .40) and immediately fell in love. It felt like it was molded to me as an extension of my arm, not as something I was holding.

Get both!
But I bet you shoot the non-GAP more. Having 1911's, a Glock 21, and an HK USP. This is the one I go to the most:

Re: Any thoughts on 45 GAC?
I have this same pistol. That's the Lightweight Champion correct? My problem with the .45 right now is finding ammo for the range. I can get my hands on plenty of personal protection rounds but finding rounds to shoot at the range locally has been a challenge. I can shoot my M&P40 all day long and still find plenty of ammo to feed it.
Nevermind, just saw your second post.

Re: Any thoughts on 45 GAC?
I totally agree with the “Test Drive” idea, looking for a pistol is lot like looking for a woman
Ya’ gots to find one that fits, one that makes you smile, one that could rock your day. Many gun shops have ranges now days where you can test out a variety of guns. The .45 ACP is a good old round with a long history, the .40 … it aint for me but I know lots of Folks who love it. I carry a 1911 because it’s what I’m used to, been carrying one for 35 years now…Old habits die hard. But it aint for everyone, the single action workings of a 1911 can take some getting used to And some of them can be finicky … but when you get a good one it’s like a good Woman, You just can’t let go. I’ve tried Glock’s, S&W’s, … I even bought an Astra once, They just didn’t feel right. And That is the key, You have to find what feels right and comfortable Some thing you could become “One with” and stick with it. Shopping for a new gun can be a lot of fun
