IMO, can't go wrong with any IPA. I tried one a few weeks ago when I was home from R&R that was memorable though, I want to say it was called Alaskan IPA? Don't really remember though since it wasn't my first beer of the night

My highest rated IPA on ratebeer is Bell's Two Hearted followed closely by Stone IPA and Troegs Nugget Nectar. I rated Three Floyds Dreadnaught a bit higher but that is a DIPA. Of those 4, I'd definitely grab a Troegs right now though.

My favorite......my own. There are 1001 reasons to homebrew, but you IPA lovers have an extra reason. The ability to dry-hop and bottle(or keg) and drink relatively fresh makes for an amazing IPA. I think this was the reason Pliny was not bottled until recently, had to be pretty fresh to maintain that huge fresh hop aroma and flavor. That, and the ability to put you favorite hops and hop combinations into your brew. I like making larger, later hop additions to get more of the flavor/aroma and less of the bitterness. And it's gotta be fairly dry, high final gravity IPA's
![]() My favorite combo: Amarillo and Simcoe, 30min/15min/Flame-out/DryHop. ![]() |
