Household projects
OK,
So over the last year I have had quite a few 'This Old House' projects and am currently in the middle of two. I haven't seen this anywhere (other than the random humi or smoking room build) so I thought I'd start a thread..... Let's see your projects Ladies! I'll start with mine. #1 Took one of my little 3' x 3' closets and built the wife a bigger one... Collateral Damage caused me to redo my adjoining closet. http://picasaweb.google.com/timlael/...eat=directlink Teaser: #2 I just started this one two weeks ago. Due to a clogged drum trap under the floor, I decided to remodel my entire Master Bath. http://picasaweb.google.com/timlael/...eat=directlink Teaser: #3 Since I had a 20yd dumpster for the bathroom job, the wife decided that we would pull the carpet from our dining room and living room and refinish the wood floors beneath. http://picasaweb.google.com/timlael/...eat=directlink Teaser: I hired out the floors due to the lack of time between now and Thanksgiving since we are hosting, but the rest is all me! Let's see em!

Re: Household projects
Well my house burned down 2 years ago a few days after my wife and I had a$25k kitchen put in so since then we built a new one so aside from having to paint the upstairs bathroom and keep the lawn tidy, I'm in the clear

Re: Household projects
Living on post I don't do those. I make a phone and cross my fingers and 6 months later forget about it.

Re: Household projects
Thank ya sir!
Once the Polyurethane goes down, the old area rug marks will be completely hidden.

Go to Home Cheapo and rent an orbital sander and do the floors yourself. I did all the floors in my first house myself. You shouldn't have much of a problem as that wood appears to be in pretty good shape. Give it a try, the wife will love you more! By the way, it was electrical but not the kitchen. One of the firemen that was airlifted to the hospital during the fire came by tonight with his son to trick or treat. Our wives were both pregnant at the time of the fire. I'm glad we are all still here. |

Re: Household projects
I hear that is fairly common in that period (It probably was done 80-100 years ago)... To finish the floors around area rugs.

Re: Household projects
OK, so the floors are done:
http://picasaweb.google.com/timlael/...eat=directlink Now I have to kick this Flu's ass so I can get moving on the bathroom again. The bathroom has been a challenge so far. If anyone has ever removed a cast iron vent/soil stack from an old 2 story plaster home..... well, you know then!
