Default Anyone ever use Dragon Naturally Speaking

With a LONG weekend ahead of me helping write new notes, I thought I'd give this software a try. I can type pretty quickly as it is (70 words/min), but this would help even better. I just set up the software and so far I really like it. In fact, the software is typing of this message for me.

My father used this a bit but ultimately got frustrated by some of its typos.

Just finished watching a July 2010 video on "Dragon Naturally Speaking 11":

http://video.nytimes.com/video/2010/07/29/technology/personaltech/1247468534187/dragon-naturallyspeaking-11.html

I've never used it, but it does look helpful for dictating notes, ideas, or, "even playing around on CA"

Appears they've worked out of few of the bugs since the last version...

Like I said, I just installed it and haven't read the first thing about it and skipped all the tips at the beginning cuz after all, I am a man.

Pretty good thus far and I need to figure out some kinks and I will be all set.

I've used it for years. My advice would be:

1) Get trained to use it. There are tricks that increase the accuracy a lot. Otherwise, it makes too many mistakes.
2) If you can, use it on a computer that you don't use for a lot of other things. If your computer slows down, Dragon slows down.

So, having a dedicated computer sounds key to a level of accuracy and speed...

Used it. Thumbs down.

Problem is it doesn't do well if you use a lot of proper names, and have much of an accent if all. Needless to say, my southern drawl was a killer!

And spell checker is ineffective, because the wrong words are not misspelled. Means you basically have to re-read every word. Takes me much shorter time to just type it!

I do IT work for a lawyer who used it as he was fairly blind. I highly recommend you back up your dictionary (your training of the software) manually and often. The "auto" backup function would not work correctly and it got corrupted at least once every 2 months. I manually copied it off to the side every month so I would have the latest training.

I tried it years ago and it sucked. The learning curve was huge and it was pretty useless.
Now I even have it on my iPhone. It works great. There's even a Dragon Search that you can talk to to search the web. It works really good, too.
I think you'll like it, but you'll have to have patience with it and use it a lot for it to be a really useful tool. A really good headset is a good idea, too.
Make sure you let us know how it works out for you.

I can talk to my android phone to do queries or enter text, but have to speak slowly and clearly. I'm still getting used to it.

I have used it for about 6 months and love it. The biggest mistake I made early on was to manually correct any typos or words that weren't interpreted correctly. It was quicker to just fix things... but then I would end ip having to correct the same things over and over again. Take the time to train the things it gets wrong and the accuracy will improve over time.
