I'm calling accessory shenanigans...
The other CA is featuring an accessory on their website.
As they explain it, it is supposed to prevent broken wrappers and allow the flavors of the cigars to optimally unfold. As I see it, the acrylic only increases the chances that the wrapper will get damaged. I've never cracked a wrapper dropping a cigar into a box, but I can foresee cracking one just pulling it out of that contraption. Plus cigars age better with less air flow. Removing them from their Cab's or Boxes to place them into this contraption would be a waste and would not age them better then their original boxes. Keep in mind this is not an advertisement, this is an endorsement. So who's tossing all of their boxes and replacing them with this hunk o' junk? Oh, and now your 3000-ct humidor only holds 300 sticks. |

Re: I'm calling accessory shenanigans...
So if you have that down in your humi, how do you get cigars out of it to smoke it they just don't happen to be on the top level? Do you have to take the entire contraption out of the humi to get at the cigars?

Yup, and I'd bet you couldn't pull that thing out without damaging at least one wrapper. |

edit: BTW, I'm horrible disappointed that we're this far into a thread on that CA and no one has commented on how this would enhance the flavors of 7 yr Madagascar Vanilla! |

But, but it will, "allow the flavors of the cigars to optimally unfold". Sounds worth it to me. Looking forward to the guys that really now about this stuff to help out here.

I can almost see the thought process that went into this. "You know, a lot of cigar smokers are retro-fitting VinoTemps to store their smokes. That's it! A cigar-sized wine rack!"

I think I'm going to start making them out of strips of Spanish Cedar. Then I'm going to sell them through the SkyMall Magazine at 3x the price. Dude, I'm gonna be rich!
Don't none of you go and steal my idea! Cheers, Michael |

Re: I'm calling accessory shenanigans...
what?? where's the extractor tool to delicately lift your cigar from its resting place without transferring any oils from your fingers?? Everyone KNOWS that the oil on your fingers is what kills the essence of that elusive 7 yr BURNT Madagascar Vanilla!!!
Sheesh!!! |
