Oliva Serie V Maduro
Date: 10/24/08
Cigar: Oliva Serie V Maduro (6.5 x 52) Cost: $8 Drink: Coke Temperature: 46 F, 10 mph winds Appearance: 1 banded cigar that says "Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial" on the band. The wapper was smooth with no major veins showing. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/100_1598.jpg Pre-light: Didn't really have any special scent to it. I didn't really pick up any special taste pre-light. Taste of the cigar: This cigar was chocolatey, spicy, and had a little bit of coffee flavor. It also had a nice sweetness to it. It never got harsh. Construction: Held an long ash. The draw was perfect. The cigar required a few touchups. Strength: This was a full flavored cigar. I didn't get a nic buzz from it. Halfway through: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/100_1599.jpg 3/4 through: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/100_1601.jpg Summary: This cigar was delicious. These are better than the regular Oliva V's. I would definitely buy this again. OLIVA NEEDS TO MAKE THESE AGAIN! I give this a 9.5/10. :ss |

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
I had one of these last night, almost the exact same experience...but I did get a spicy pre-light taste but really never any spice during the smoke. It was extremely smooth and will be a great cigar to age. I did get burn problems during the last third...it just did not want to stay lit

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Great review and I love the pictures. I'm like a little kid, I flip (scroll) through the photo's then read. I just picked up two boxes from my local B&M. They have four boxes open and ready, just screaming "Waynegro1, Waynegro1, Take us to our new home" I couldn't resist. This is why I don't go to the humane society. What ya gonna do?
Again, great review. :tu |

Got a box of them safe in the humidor but I have not been able to smoke one with this freakin' head cold I can't shake!:fl

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
I didn't think this cigar was all that great. It looked beautiful, had a smooth, peppery flavor but the thing just wouldn't stay lit. I was working harder on a cigar than I had in a long time. It might have been a little too wet from the BM, but it didn't seem spongy and I've never had problems with his smokes before. I picked them up Thursday and let them sit outside the humi until Saturday night. I was in the Man Den, so neither wind nor temp was an issue. I gave one to PitmanGeek and his was worse than mine. I feel I shouldn't have to work that hard to enjoy something.

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Thanks for the great review! I thought it was good, but defiantely needed some time to rest (it was pretty much right off the truck)... :ss

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Thanks for the review!!!
Now I am really looking forward to smoking the one Cigarmark sent me!!! BTW - The RG tool is a nice touch... too bad it's not from CA!!! |
Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
So hard to find at local B&Ms lately because of the limited production, but that's part of what makes it so special! I LOVE this cigar....great review, bro!

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Thanks for the review. It makes me want to tear into one right now, but I must show restraint for at least a week.

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Good review, thanks. I had one of these earlier in the week and i liked it all the way down to the toothpick holding nub. They are hard to find locally, only one B&M have them around here.
I still am leaning towards the "G"'s. I am a fanatic about them. But the "V" was definitely a good smoke. -Dan |

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
This is always a solid cigar anytime. This is one of my go to cigars when i am in need for a nice medium-full body smoke.

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Thanks for the review! If you haven't tried one of these yet it's a must!

Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Agree with the review 100% These and the regular V's are one of my all time favorites.
|
Re: Oliva Serie V Maduro
Reading this made me remeber that I still have 3 of the 2008 V Maduro's in my humi. 2008 has been my favorite of the V maduro's. But hopefully I can get a few of the 2011's.
