Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 4)
READ THIS CAREFULLY!
I'd like a newb that writes reviews and enjoys cigars for a little blind taste test fun. You need to have around 100 posts, at least 1 or 2 trader feedbacks (a send and receive in the NST, for instance) and to have written some reviews already. I'd like it if you're fairly new to smoking and just trying new stuff. You'd be obligated to write reviews and enjoy some cigars.. that's about it (painful, eh?). Post here why you should be the one and link some of your reviews. The way you write your reasons will be considered too... Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 4)
I'd love to get in on this... But I'm not sure what kind of time I can devote to some BTTs right now. I just finished one up a week or so ago on the PIF. What kind of time frame are you looking at and for how many sticks (I'm assuming 10 based on previous BTTs)?

Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 4)
Hi Dan, I would love to be considered for round 4. I have a few more posts than 100 and have been involved in the NST, PIF, Passes and BTT so I have some trader feedback as well. I have done just one review, found here.
Pre-"first review" I would say I had never really took the time to sit down and think about what I was smoking. I was looking forward to smoking slower and pay attention to what was going on with the cigar. The first 1/3 of the review I couldn't quite make out the flavors, however I kept at it and soon I began picking up subtler notes. The second and third parts of the review I found I truly enjoyed the process, began picking up flavors and was looking forward to doing more. Overall, reviewing a cigar was a pleasant experience. I followed the last BTT you did and enjoyed the pictures and reading the reviews. What a great idea to have two independent review sources and then compare them. Would love to be involved in the next one!

Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 4)
Greetings Dan
I would love to apply for your fourth installment. I started to get into cigars in June. I had smoked before but never payed attention to what I was smoking. I attempted a review once: http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=34231 As you can see, it was a failure getting zero comments. Actually, it got one comment, but it was from Mac and he's a post whore so I don't count it. I would like to offer a few reasons why you should select me. First I work 19 hr days. Normally I can see how this could be a problem. Lucky for you I'm a stiff and spend my time at work doing as little as possible, leaving plenty of time to enjoy some cigars. Second I have a touch of O.C.D. Again, I can see how this might be a problem. However, this will result in all my reviews being completed in a timely manner, and thus delivered to you promptly. Any failure to do so will probably result in me taking numerous trips to my house to check if my front door is locked. Third If I am not selected, my wife could see me for the failure that I am. Possibly leave me, send me to the bottom of a bottle, and set off a chain of events that could ultimately lead to my daughter "dancing" her way through college. In summary I have all the time, reliability, and incentives to make your fourth installment a success. In fairness I would like to offer some reasons not to select me. First At a recent herf, I realized I have the palate of a caveman. Second I have sausage like fingers. So, typo's are sure to abound. Third MMMMMM Sausage In summary You may be able to find someone who isn't as rough around the edges as me. Thanks for your time Dom

Re: Need a newb that writes reviews... (Part 4)
I may be too "old" for this, your call. I consider myself an educated noob (I read about cigars more often than I get to smoke them). I've only done one review here:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=21679 I've never done a "blind taste test" type thing before, but have read a number of them and think it would be really fun. I've got a naturally good palate, but it's still pretty untrained. So if you want an honest opinion about the cigars, cool, if you want me to tell you exactly which type of dried fruit I taste and the vintage of the type of cedar used ... look elsewhere, lol. If you've already got enough people, great. If it's between me and another guy--pick him. But if you're in need of one more, I'll take one for the team. Just know that I'll be smoking this in Asia, so things might taste different here on the other side of the world |
