Legend of the Seeker
I was a fan of the books at one time. Has anyone watched this show? What did you think?

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Ok...so The books do kick ass... this show.... quite literally pisses me off. I mean just in the first part, I could of sworn that kahlan's robes were supposed to be fully white, and not have this black crap under it.... and also Chase is Richard's awesome friend, they wouldn't stand off at each other like they did. Lets see what else... Richard and Zed were super close, not how they portrayed it..... Maybe my memory fails me but Richards mother didn't die in the midlands, she died in westland.... Oh and the book of counted shadows, wasn't memorized, wasn't burned with his father in a magicical glory....NO...and his "father" wasn't killed by Darken Rahl either... AHHH I'm pissed off again.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
I hate excellant books that are turned into movies. If Tolkien can still sell the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings long after death then Hollywierd needs to leave the phuken story line alone. Easy example is the Liv Tyler role. rant, rant, rant.... for all that, they did seem to leave the storey line alone more than I thought they would.
I saw I guess the first show this week by accident and having never read the books, it was new to me. The show started out well but the second half really got weak. Either trying to pack too much in the last hour or what I'm not sure. Almost like it was directed/edited by different people or done at a different time. I'll give it one more go to see if the quality is there next week.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
dude, they ****ed with the story line too much and then crammed it all together. What you saw in the two hour premier was like 5 chapters that happened over several days crammed together. Freaking Richard when he was bit by that stupid thorn was supposed to be out of it by like 2 days.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Never really understood the thorn issue. One minute he's hurt and a bit of puss and the next it's never seen again..... No explanation about the plant. As you noted, too much in too short a time. Better to fleshed out the start more and done a cliff hanger with the Brother outside the burning house...

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Seriously Volt...go read the book, they have it in audio book format too... It is a very awesome series. If you have not the cash to get it, let me know, I'll get it on amazon for you.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
I need to place an Amazon order anyway for some Xmas stuff. Trying to start early, I'll add it to the basket. Then I can be even more pissed at the show.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Beware in the books. The last 4 or so have gotten really preachy. One book was complete ****, I think it was just so his publishers would get off his back.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Loved the books. The 1st season was OK. A lot of stuff that irritated me, but I tried to let it slide as there was no way a made for TV show was going to be able to replicate the book(s). Some shows were actually good, some lame and overall not a very good series. But, I like the books so much and the characters that I am struggling through it. The 2nd season actually seems better. One lame show, and another rather interesting one. I like having the sisters appear, but really miss the details from the book. The changes they make are rather tough to watch, but I'm letting that all go and just enjoying the series for what it is, different from the books.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
The thing that threw me was in season 1 there was kind of a throwaway reference to the Sisters of the Light. They ran the orphanage where they dropped off the listener kid.

Yeah, I remember being really disappointed thinking that was all they were going to do with them. Still disappointing the sisters didn't use the Rada Han. Verna is much too likable at this point.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Terry Goodkind said they were different. If you like the books then you might like the series, people who like the series might like the books. They just happen to have some similar situations and the same character names.
He sold his rights and understood that it wasn't going to be the same.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
The show stinks.I have higher hopes for the "A Game of Thrones" TV show HBO is doing based on George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series.

Re: Legend of the Seeker
Well, I'm the last to find out, apparently: LOTS is being cancelled after two seasons. I thought the season 2 finale wrapped things up a little too neatly. I don't know how Bruce Spence managed to spit out the line, "There is no magic stronger than the love you and Richard have for each other" without slipping into a diabetic coma.
There seems to be a campaign aimed at saving the series, but the focus is getting SyFy to pick it up. You know, the same folks that killed Farscape, SG-1, and Atlantis. Posted via Mobile Device |
