Baked blueberry french toast (dutch oven)
This could be adapted to regular baking! You could also be creative and use other fruits, BACON, etc.
Blueberry French Toast - 14 inch DO - 8 Servings Prep Time: 30 Minutes, Cook Time: 1 Hour Ready In: 15 Hours INGREDIENTS: 1 pound loaf Italian bread, cut into 1 inch cubes 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, diced 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen) 12 eggs 2 cups milk 1/3 cup maple syrup 1 cup white sugar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1 cup water 1 cup blueberries 1 tablespoon butter DIRECTIONS: In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk and maple syrup. Add bread cubes. Place into ziplock and refrigerate. The next day place 1/2 bread mix in DO. Sprinkle cream cheese on top of bread cubes. Top with 1 cup blueberries followed by remaining bread. Bake at to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)for 60 minutes, until golden brown and center is set. To make Sauce: In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch, add water. Boil over medium heat for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in blueberries and reduce heat. Simmer 8 to 10 minutes, or until the berries have burst. Stir in butter until melted. Re: Baked blueberry french toast (dutch oven)
I dont think there is any problem with adapting it for regular baking. Just use a baking pan and I would use one with a cover and pull the cover off half way through to crisp the top.
