Re: New Wonder Woman!
I was going to suggest that a movie might have done better, but apparently there's been one stuck in development for a few years. Fantasy/Sci-fi has pretty much bombed on TV lately (aside from Lost). Look at stuff like V, The Event, The Cape, No Ordinary Family, Defying Gravity, Stargate: Universe, Caprica. If they're not gone yet, they will be in May. The public would rather watch crap like Dancing With the "Stars," Bob's Burgers, and of course: American Idol.

Look at the first season of Hero's. Good script and a good show -- then it went down-hill. The recent series The Cape had a good idea, but lousy script -- and the main actor (forget his name) just could not pull off the character. I think with fantasy series people have high expectations and the developers are not up to the task right now... Never watched Idol... My wife watches Dancing, but for me it's easy to avoid... I really do like a good SciFi show and periodically re-watch Firefly/Serenity from and the Dresden Files from SF Channel. Or I read... BTW, I will check out Wonder Woman, just to see how this new actress does. She looks pretty hot and that seems to be able to take a mediocre series a long way...

Re: New Wonder Woman!
Are you talking about the show or the comic? I know they got rid of the skin tight clothes in the comic a year or two ago.

The one for the show, I saw a pic of the new costume a couple of weeks ago and it looks terrible. It was a pi true of her running through the streets.

Re: New Wonder Woman!
Didn't they already cancel the show? I thought I read that it was done without airing a single episode.

Re: New Wonder Woman!
My problem is not with the costume nor the actress chosen, and I need refrain from condemning the scripts until they are aired . . . obviously. However, I always found the character of Wonder Woman to be pretty damn lame. In fact, with the exception of a few of Marvel's X-Women, I find ALL female superheroes to be, bustiers or not, flat and one-dimensional.

Re: New Wonder Woman!
Not wrong, but not entirely accurate either, as even many of the "lesser" male heroes are fleshed out more completely. It may likely be due to the fact that men totally dominate the comics industry, as creators, writers, artists, and consumers, and thus they are less able to produce (or relate to) a more rounded female character.
Though by "rounded" I of course mean emotionally and personally, as opposed to physically. |

My problem with Wonder Woman is not the original character herself (who broke stereotypical gender roles when she was introduced), but the constant need to redefine and revamp her character every couple of years. We don't need a complete makeover each and every year.
