Is this a good deal?
http://www.jrcigars.com/jr/index.cfm...ils/dealID=273
Says 50 smokes for 50 bucks and "what you see is what you get".. but I can't really see what I'm getting. Don't really want crappy tasting sticks! |

Re: Is this a good deal?
I would agree. I have done pretty well on cbid. Averaging about $3 a stick for some pretty good stuff.

I'm gonna agree with the other guys. Even if you got that exact sampler, I could only see two maybe three decent sticks. Reading the fine print, you don't get what you see. You get what some guy grabs out of the leftover piles. 50 bucks on cbid and the others can get you a pretty decent bundle or if you luck out an actual decent box. Less smokes....more enjoyment.

Re: Is this a good deal?
Thanks guys that's what I thought. Was hoping for it to be a hidden gem. Thanks again.
Edit: http://www.cigar.com/cigars/viewCiga...=SP-CIGASST198 $99.95 and those are some fine sticks, though we got many Ghurka haters here. :P Last edited by fencefixer; 03-04-2012 at 02:38 PM. |

Re: Is this a good deal?
If you can't read the list of sticks somewhere then they are not worth it (they are hiding the names for a reason).

Re: Is this a good deal?
I've never had much luck with JR's smokes. But that's mainly because my tastes had changed.

Re: Is this a good deal?
Do you realize that Cigars.com is the premium branch of CI ?
They charge a premium for the same sticks you can get from CI all day long, and sometimes get for a deal on Cigarbid? Now you know the rest of the story........... Much of the JR line has declined, in the last few years I have tried in vain to find a good smoke from them, they were my dealer of choice since the early 80's........... Holts offers a Nicaraguan Overrun bundle that is a treat! Give them a month in the humi, and they are marvelous............ Last edited by Garbandz; 03-04-2012 at 07:13 PM. |

Re: Is this a good deal?
Let's just say you're not going to come out on the good end of a deal paying $1/stick.
Look into the famous nicaraguan 3000's for a great bundle value. That's closer to $2/stick, but well worth it. Torpedos are on sale for $41.95/bundle. http://www.famous-smoke.com/mobile/i...nd&brand=10213 Last edited by forgop; 03-04-2012 at 07:28 PM. |
