Medina 1959 Lancero- Miami Edition
This was a huge surprise for me!!Thanks to the nice folks at Cuban Crafters for sending me this cigar....
The light brown wrapper is very smooth and oily, has excellent seams and is uniformly firm, well packed and has a nice medium draw. There are light earthy aromas along with sweet aged tobacco, and a light taste of caramel. There are big aromas of ginger and pepper in the first third, along with a taste of white pepper, fine leather and brown sugar notes, that fill and linger on the palate. The smoke is a bit floral, very pleasant, the flavors are intense and captivating. The second third is even more intense, this is a big ,full flavor smoke. The cigar stays firm, solid tasting, the leather and brown sugar notes are still there, the profile becomes a bit creamy, some hickory notes appear, and the aromas broaden out ,becoming less concentrated and easier to appreciate. The final third is very bold, there is a fleeting note of licorice and cinnamon, the burn has been excellent all the way to the nub,the experience has left me amazed that there could be so much depth of flavor in a Lancero, and that it was so intense and yet complex. This is most definately a candidate for ageing,it will last a long time.I am sure it will be amazing after a little time in the humidor. That is based on the notion that you will be able to resist smoking these up,of course....I rate this smoke 8.5 strength on a scale of 10,and 19 of 20 overall. |
