Cigar Aficionado Top 25 #1
Checked cigaraficionado.com this morning to see if any recent news has been added and I decide to look at the TOP 25 cigars for '08 and looks like they accidently added #1, 2 days early.
My guesses were Rocky Patel Decade, an Opus X, or maybe a Cuban... Casa Magna Colorado Robusto http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar...2008_1,00.html I almost spit out my coffee. I mean don't get me wrong this cigar is good but way out of the left field. Firing one now as we speak I'll write up a review on it after I'm done

Rumor has it, they were owed an advertising favor by CA

I wouldn't doubt it. The sales of this cigar will sky rocket now.

Did not like this cigar when I smoked it a while back as a sample, way to sweet.

If anyone has some, I'd like to try the Robusto. Everywhere I look, places are already sold out as of this morning.

Comes from Fonseca cigars, In all honesty it is like the Joya de Nicaragua slighty milder and smoother.

That sounds tempting for sure...I like JdN cigars, but the flavor is often hidden behind the strength of the stick.

Hell, I'm a sucker!!!
I'd be in on a box split of the Robusto, Churchill or Belicoso. If anyone finds a box, of any of those, and is looking for a split. I'll take a fiver for sure.

Re: Cigar Aficionado Top 25 #1
Cuban cigar companies cannot pay Cigar Afflictionado for advertising. Therefore, the Casa Magna is the greatest cigar made.
When some say, "The Casa Magna is a great $4 smoke", remember....Cigar Afflictionado doesn't consider price in their rankings...they are saying the Casa Magna is the best current production cigar in the World right now at any price. Gimmie a break.

Sure they are. Cigar Afficianado did a double-blind, reverse hand job, "how much are you going to pay us?", asian massage parlor happy-ending survey. And its just the facts that Casa Magna was the best cigar produced in 2008, I am looking forward to where they end up ranking in history or in the "Cigars of the Decade" issue.

Re: Cigar Aficionado Top 25 #1
I smoked a belicoso Casa Magna at my B&M about a month ago... eh! It was definitely good for the price (then), and would revisit it. My buddy at the B&M had similiar impressions as I did. Good, not great.
Of their top 10, (I have never had a Sir Winston), I would take the La Aroma de Cuba Ed Esp... can't find the new La Gloria, and to be honest the Padron 80th was a let down, even for a huge 1926 fan...

Casa Magna! I know you’re all surprised. We were too after our initial round of Top 25 tastings. And, then, that cigar just kept holding its spot among the top five cigars. In the end, the other factors—price, availability, intangibles—that we consider when making our final choice proved to be the tipping points in favor of the Casa Magna Colorado Robusto. |
