Default Aguila Cigars

After two days of hurricane,I decided to grab an Aguila and head for the cave.I chose the torpedo.
Construction was spot on,only took one brief touch up near the last third.
Interesting aroma pre light, deep cured tobacco, taste was sweet tobacco, fresh.

First third was a riot of floral and spice aromas, layers of rich exotic scents.
The flavors were of oak and good leather, barley or oats, smooth mouth feel.
A lot going on, many components.

Second third built strength and the aromas got more woodsy and deep, oak leaf and tobacco with traces of cedar.
The flavors were more dark coffee and roots, like it was developing and not quite where it was going, but flavorful and enjoyable overall.

The last third the floral essence showed up briefly, and the flavors cleared up and were sweet tobacco, oak leaf and dark coffee, with a note of something savory.

This was a very tasty cigar,I enjoyed it for several reasons. The cost is very nice, too.

First, it was very well made, and this lead to it showing well and tasting its best.

Second, the flavors and aromas in the first third were compelling, a treat.

Third, I smoke primarily CCs, and this cigar did not blast my palate.
It was more full and had more power than I am used to, but this is in its favor for me.
Sometimes I want a cigar with some muscle that is not overpowering.

I could see these in my rotation very easily.

I am going to keep these for a while, age some in the cello, and some in a cab,I think there is a lot of development ahead in these,I have aged many cigars that had good components young, but really had much more to offer.
It would be a shame to smoke these too soon.

I would smoke this cigar anytime ,and look forward to smoking the next size........

After reading this thread, I decided to do a bit of research, and ascertained that Aguila cigars are from ACJ Cigars. I sent an email to them, and Julio Pichardo sent a response, indicating that ACJ Cigars is located at the following address:

429 River Street
Paterson, New Jersey 07524
201-598-8909

They import their tobacco from the Dominican Republic and the cigars are hand made in the store. They have a Facebook page, but it appears there is no web page. Julio stated that you could contact them regarding cigars to purchase. If you live nearby in the Paterson, NJ area, maybe somebody could give a more detailed report here...

I had sent an email to the website in Switzerland last night to ascertain who manufacturers Aguila and where are they located. I received a response this morning from Bryan who states:

"Good day, unfortunately we cannot divulge the factory information at this time, but they consist fully of Nicaraguan tobacco and are handmade by a factory in Nicaragua.

The tobacco blend is as follows:
Wrapper: Maduro Ecuador
Binder: Jalapa

Filler: Esteli

We’re offering a full money back guarantee on the Aguila if you’re not satisfied with the product for any reason.

Regards,
Bryan"

So, there you go. Don't know about the ACJ Cigars in Paterson until I receive a follow-up email from them (hopefully today).

Have a good day folks...

I think the AJC in NJ simply makes a cigar called Aguila, and has nothing to do with the one made in Nicaragua that Switzerland sells.

Nonetheless, I purchased a 10er of the robusto today from Switzerland...

Please let me know how the transaction went. I went to order some as well, but the payment company for Visa came up as Wing Wang out of Hong Kong. I decided not to buy.
Hope it works out well, the cigars looking yummy.
Thank you Mark

Being an exclusive from the vendor, It had me curious. In the end I passed and grabbed a 25ct box of the small cigars offered. LMK what you think of them after you smoke a few.

Thanks Tom. Placed my order. I was a little cautious as my credit card has been "borrowed " 3 times in the past.

Yesterda I tried the Aguila robusto, heckuva stick. Showed much better than I expected.
Same huge aromas, with no break in the flavors from start to finish.
Construction was spot on, great burn to the nub.
Flavorful but not overpowering ,compelling aromas of spice, but not peppery on the palate.
My kind of smoke, fits my profile and gives me a really good alternative to CCs.
