Default Headed To Mexico & I Got A Question

The wife and I are headed to Cancun and I was wondering what the cigar situation is down there. From posts on here and other sites I have gathered that Mexican cigars are not too highly regarded but can you buy others such as Nics, Hons, Dems, & CC's? I am wondering if I am going to need to load up the Otter Box for the trip or just take a few and pick up some while I'm down there. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you must buy cigars look for the official habanos dealer down there

Take your own. What you find down there will be fake or ridiculously expensive.

Yup, take your own. Prices are steep. You'll see a lot of glass top box CCs down there that'll you want to stay away from. The LCDH might be worth checking out though.

Hit the LCdH there in February. Nice place with a cool deck in the back for smoking and drinking. They make the country's best Mojitos, I recommend having one...or four.

The sticks are quite expensive, so I picked something I hadn't seen or tried at that point. Smoked a Ramon Allones Phoenecio and had a relaxing time. I would definitely recommend spending an afternoon there for the experience, but wouldn't necessarily recommend buying more than a single...unless you like Taboadas, they had a nice selection back in Feb.

This is where I went when I went down last year. This is the ONLY place I'd buy CC stogies in Mexico.

Have fun and be safe.

Yup...saw several cigar stores in Cancun, and EVERY CCthey had was fake, excepting the ones at LCdH.

Almosy every souvenir store had glass top boxes...I wanted to bring home a box of Esplendidos, but the prices weren't "fake".

You're NOT joking, Tom...the prices were painfully "real".
