Out of the Humidor

Pipe Tobacco Storage
Should I store my pipe tobacco in my humidor? I'm keeping it in an old cigar box right now. If I keep it in my humidor, will the aroma affect the cigars? It's in plastic bags, but I can smell it through the bags.

I use Mason jars; they're cheap, widely available, you can label them and they're airtight.

No, the RH of a cigar humidor is too high for PT.

Re: Pipe Tobacco Storage
I would definitely keep it out of your humidor, unless the humidor is dedicated to pipe tobacco. You will stink up all your cigars.
+1 on the mason jars, they seal well and I picked up a bunch at Goodwill for a nickel a piece.

Mason jars. I have some 'baccy stashed in some plastic "snack baggies" tucked into tupperware. No issues at all.

But the only reason I dont have Mason jars is beacuse I dont have room enough for them, otherwise Mason jars are the way to go.

Re: Pipe Tobacco Storage
Gonna go with most here and second the motion for mason jars. I get the half pint sized ones which seem to hold right around 2 ounces ribbon cut and slightly more in flake form. The are 6$ for a case of 12 around here. Plus they are reusable.

Re: Pipe Tobacco Storage
Mason jars are great, I use those ziplock twist containers as well, they stack better and I don't have the space for so many jars. Don't put pipe tobacco in your humi, as others have said it will leave a smell and the humidity is far too high.

Here's a good thread on prepping the jars if you are cellaring.
