Vino Tempature Issue Question
I just purchased a Haier 18 ct vino four days ago (picture is below), and have a question/concern about the tempature.
Interior dimensions are 13.5" in deep X 8.5" in wide X 36" in high. The tempature is set on the lowest configuration and is reading between 61-63 degrees F (seems this is the "warmest" it will get). Humidity is dead on at 65% (where I like it). I have the vino filled with old cedar cigar boxes for storage. Are there any issues storing cigars at this tempature? I know the ideal tempature is 65-70 degrees. This vino has no drain hole, two fans, and I am using Scott Shilalas beads for RH control. What effect, if any, will this have on my sticks? Dry them out faster? Am I ok to start storing sticks? Am I worrying about this too much? LOL!! Any thoughts/comments are welcomed. Thanks in advance!! |

Re: Vino Tempature Issue Question
How much higher is the ambient temperature in the room you placed your vino?
I only plug in my unit when the ambient temp is high (and that is rare). I wouldn't be worried too much about your temperature being in that range. the higher the temperature obviously the more likely beetles might gestate and hatch. You are safer to keep your temp at the lower range of 60s for that matter. |

Re: Vino Tempature Issue Question
Sofaman keeps his sticks that cold. It's fine. He likes them that way.
I don't like smoking cold cigars. Don't know why, it just ain't right. You can always set a little 50 count on top and move the cold ones you want to smoke up there to warm up. Yes, you're okay to load it up. Have fun!!!

Re: Vino Tempature Issue Question
I think you're good to go. I've never read anything about low temperatures affecting cigars (at least until you get down near freezing). Also, if your hygro is reading 65%, you're golden. Theoretically, your cigars should contain the same amount of moisture at 60*/65% as they do at 70*/65% thanks to the "relative" in "relative humidity".

I saw one at Lowe's the other day. They're tall and skinny.
Sexy, too.

Re: Vino Tempature Issue Question
You could get a temp controller, they run about $60 to $80 for a Johnson Controls.
