Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Based on the absurd range of bottles at reasonable prices and the fact that they never take inventory/ship to anywhere, I'm going to assume it's a sham site. Fun to look through and day dream about though!

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Yeah, when I saw Pappy 10, 15, 20 and 23 year all in stock at decent secondary prices, I kinda thought the same, Ben.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Weller SR handle, old forester rye and EH Taylor last night
Found some bottles of Old Forester 1910 and 1920 for $55 each, deciding on if I want to go pick either up this afternoon, the 1920 sounds interesting

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
20 is prohibition style, 10 is "old fine whiskey." Have you had either? The 10 sounds more interesting (double barrel aged) but the higher proof on the 20 apparently brings out some really great flavors, and I feel like I probably shouldn't buy both

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I have not. The 1920 peaks my interest and is on the short list to pick up.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Thank you. I went across into Windsor today and managed to score a bottle of Weller Select Reserve but unfortunately they were out of the 107 and 12. I would love to keep it as close to MSRP as possible but would consider a little bit over.

On Wednesday had pours of a BT store pick, then weller 107 followed by sazerac rye. It was a nice group of whiskeys

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
How is that cask strength rye? I heard a couple people online say they wish they could get it, I found it a few places here but the price was a little higher than I wanted to pay

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
It's wonderful, nice flavor and some good heat. Couple stores stocked with it here, at $69 which I believe is the MSRP? How much by you?

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Same, somewhere in the $70-75 range. I'll keep that in mind, I'm mainly sticking with bourbon for now other than a few cheaper rye pickups. Whiskey has been my go to liquor for years but only recently did I start actually paying attention to what I drank, so I'm trying to build my knowledge base up and pay closer attention to mash bills and ages and other stuff to really dial in on what I prefer, or at least have a better idea of what to pour when I'm in the mood for a certain profile

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I'm pretty much in the same position, Ben, maybe a bit behind you in the grand scheme of things. I am a big fan of the cayenne heat I get from some higher proof ryes though.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Honestly, Chayse, I haven't had enough experience with it to have a valid opinion. A pour here and there at a herf, I don't remember...so maybe that says something ?

Your my bourbon expert lol, I like it but like my buffalo trace the best. I always heard it was sweeter but I have yet to find that. Definitely different though!

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Went to a new-to-me cigar bar on Saturday, not the best bourbon selection but I did have a pour of Russel's 10 and the Russel's Rye 6. I think the 10 was as vanilla as I have ever tasted in a bourbon, really enjoyed it. The 6 was good as well but not as stand outish
Haven't had the most experience with wheateds either other than a few types of Weller, which I'm a huge fan of and of course plenty of makers mark over the years. I've heard good things about Larceny as well, that one is on my list to try next time I see it out
