Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Great day today. Micahs team swept their age division beating all teams and one team twice. Sharks decide to take game 2 and get a firm control of the series. I like the Sharks heading into D up 2 a place they are no longer intimidated by given their wins there last and this year. Hope Sharks can take one of two in Detroit. Nashville's goalie may take them all the way. That was grand theft last night. |

Hope he can stay consistent. It was hit or miss against LA.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
The Kings were big like the Sharks and a little faster and matched up well against the Sharks.
The Wings are a Puck moving precision team. The don't have the team speed of the Kings and don't have the team size. They cannot sustain a physical series against a bigger stronger team. Its not their game. With two games in hand the Sharks can afford to lose a game and just pound on them. I think its great they are in Bersmoochis head. I can only hope he keeps taking penalties. I think the Wings tried to play a more physical game and that is not their style and will be a bad decision if they stick with it. They are older smaller and slower. There advantage is some high skill players. So far the Sharks D has been equal to the task and the Sharks number one line jumbo, Patty, and the Guch has shut down the Wings number 1. For the Wings to take the series at this point Howard will need to steal some games or the Sharks will need to fold. All in all I like the Sharks chances now. I think the Wings psych hold over the Sharks is dead and buried. I don't expect any crutches being broken out about officiating. The Wings got beat by the better team on the ice end of story. |

They were looking pretty out-played in the first half of the OT. Great composure and an awesome one-timer. That back Ref must have blinked and missed that going in and out of the net

The B's were getting stormed the whole third, but still did manage to hit a few posts.
Thomas was the story, taking two on the road not a bad thing

Thomas did s great job to save the game in the 3rd and OT. Boston has a stranglehold on Philly, just can't pull a "2010".

Dennis Seidenberg had a great game too. We missed him last year and he is living up to the billing in the playoffs so far. "2010" was such a bad memory. I hope they can put it behind them as well.

Old, slow, cliché, cliché, cliché. Phoenix was way more physical against the Wings than the Sharks have been. The difference is skill. The Wings made Phoenix pay for their overly-physical play with quick goals. Going after guys can often put you out of position. San Jose is more skilled than Phoenix, and they wanted it more. The Wings just got outworked. They were beaten to most of the loose pucks, even after winning faceoffs and such. After the first game I was upset about the uneven number of calls and blatant flopping by the "more physical team". Kinda hard to be physical against someone when they flop at the drop of a hat and the refs reward them with power plays. Either way, the Wings got outplayed. My point is its hard to fight uphill against the refs. Game 2 was more evenly called; the Wings had an early surge but didn't sustain it. Howard has played well but the Wings have to score more goals. They usually win games where they only allow 2 goals. The Wings have to win the next two at home or this series is over.
