Finally finished Dominion, started "mere Christianity" by C S Lewis and also "Forest Laird" by Jack Whyte. The latter was sent to me from Canada, as it is not yet in print here in the US. Like most of Whyte's writting, I can't put it down, excellent. Lewis, on the other hand, is a bit of a tough read. Good though.

I was not thrilled with it, but it definately lets you know "war is hell".

I have about 3 books going and had to abandon them.
Now I'm reading a giant pile of Shop Notes magazines and CAD/CAM software manuals. I have to morph into a student, it's a tough switch.

Just got a kindle fire for my birthday. I've downloaded a bunch of the free out-of-copyright books and love having them so close. I'm reading the Count of Montecristo right now (although it was $.99).

I assume since it is a re-read that you enjoyed it? I've been looking for a good book on the subject.

Yes. Very well written. Because Hitler was the Reich in many ways, it covers his life and his actions in great detail. Written from the point of view of a journalist who was on the spot up until US entered the war and uses Nazi documentation of high level meetings, diplomatic negotiations, and decision points uncovered as part of the Nuremburg investigation.

If you are looking for a detailed military history this is not going to give you what you want. But for an overview of the political, military, and social history of the third reich it's an amazing read.

Excellent. I think I'd get bored with the "detailed" military history, so this sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I appreciate the recommendation.

Edit: And, it's not available on the kindle yet. I'll keep my eyes open for it.
