Dont think the Sharks will get far this year, but who cares with playoffs like this who can complain. Man I love hockey playoffs. My heart rate goes up watching a game I have no horse in. I never experience that with any other sport. trully the Wild Wild West |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
I couldn't believe that was the real Blackhawks playing tonight. Sloppy and not doing the little stuff to win a game. Looks like Nashville is going to make this very interesting.
Wings win 7-4 I couldn't believe the action in this game. I'm looking for the Wings to really takeover the series Sunday at the Joe. We at least tightened up the PK allowing no goals on 4 PP chances for PHX.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
So the Hawks lose their first game and are going to have an interesting series, and the Wings win 1 of 2 and are going to "take over"?
We shall see.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
I don't think the AVS gave it away. To be honest if Nabakov had played 1/2 as good ad Anderson that game is very different. Nabokov allowed 5 goals in 14 shots before making some saves late.
The AVS failed to ice the game with a 5 on 3 PP late in the 3rd. Shots were 52 to 22 in favor of the Sharks. The Sharks played physical, and if the series goes deep the story will be goaltending. The Avs are faster, but the Sharks are bigger and stronger. The Avs have also had some funky goals. The game winner in game 1 and the first goal in this game which went off Blakes stick then vlassics throat. I really want to see what happens in game 3. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
well I guess depending on how you look at it they gave it away as they failed to close the game out on a horrible night by nabokov. I hope the Sharks use this win as momentum as it was a very emotional win. Pavelskis clutch goal to send it to OT. I think the Seto cal in the 3rd was crap though and the goal should have counted. That said the end result was more of an emotional high for the Sharks.
I'm pulling for your Hawks Tom. After the Sharks get elliminated they will be who I pull for |

Game two is always very pivotal in playoff series. The Yotes clearly tried to go punch for punch with the Wingsan and that didn't go so well for them. I think the Coyotes are going to lose a lot of confidence going to the Joe and trying to win. A lot of the Coyotes energy came from their home crowd and their emotions of being in the playoffs for the first time since 2002. That energy will be sucked out of them at Joe Louis. Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
While a loss can never be "reassuring", I watched the Hawks play 84 games this season. I think Q and the coaching staff will make adjustments to counteract the Preds neutral zone trap and 2 man forecheck. I look for a different team tomorrow.
While I picked the Wings to win the series before it started, I hardly think it's time to stick a fork in the Coyotes. Nabokov will have to be a LOT better in Colorado if the Sharks are to win their series.

"Home Ice" apparently means nothing this year. Good game by Chara and the B's.

As to the B's game miller lost for the first time after leading going into the 3rd in 31 games and Vanek is likely out on a suspect play. I could say its over, but that would be silly now wouldnt it. Unlike some who think you can call any of these series after 2 games or worse yet 1! game already I am going to wait as I think all these series can go the distance. I always heard game three was the big one as the first 2 are usually a feeling out process, but I guess thats old school. I have only been watching hockey since I was a kid though. I mean the Pens were down 0-2 in 2 series last year and oooooooooo wait maybe we shouldnt bring that up. Based on some logic both those series should have been over I mean they were down 0-2 in 2 seperate series they should have just quit. I am sure they were mesmerized walking into the other teams barn down 0-2. Or maybe they went in and punched them in the mouth. I would panic just yet Tom. Just like the Avs had a better game plan than the Sharks in game one the Preds did the Hawks. The Hawks are much deeper and skilled and faster than the Preds. I think you may just be okay. As for my Sharks I like that they clawed back in and won despite Nabokov being less valuable then a shootertudor in net at times, but I am not sold. Jumbo silenced some crittics with 2 assists last night and secondary scoring won the day. If Nabokov shows up on sunday and the Sharks keep up the hitting and shots they have a chance. I would never call any of these series though as they are so back and forth. |
