New York Mets 2014 Season Banter!!

The Mets have done really well for themselves.
Especially when you consider that they haven't hit for a damn, and now with Dice-K, are on their fourth closer before May even starts.
Looking back, they were dreadful against the Nats, and I thought they would be done by June.
But this is baseball. Things always even out over 162 games.
The Mets will still be done, I'll just have to wait until the All Star break to see it.

Can't argue with any of this Dom. I have been pleasantly surprised so far...but for how long?

Tied for the worst batting average in the NL, closer by "who's healthy?", Wright hasn't hit the ball, 1B is a BLACK HOLE for us, Tejada WON'T hit, outfield is hitting a combined below the mendoza line, and Granderson is playing like stir-fried dog sh*t (at least offensively).

On a bright note...Murphy continues to hit, LaGares was tearing it up before he went on the DL, bullpen has been surprisingly ok (we know this will come crashing down) and I believe Collins has done a bang up job so far.

Bottom line: I'm enjoying this while I can.

And another thing...we're not getting suspended for wearing pine-tar.

Only reason I can come up with for putting it on his neck!

Mets score two in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Marlins, 4-3. Granderson has the game winning single.

Mets give one away this evening to the Marlins, 7-6 in 10 innings. Up 5-1 and Mejia gives up 5 runs in the 6th. Salty hits a HR off Farnsworth in the 10th.

Mets take the series by shutting out the Marlins this afternoon, 4-0. Gee pitches eight strong innings.

Nats lose and we're back in second place.

Mets have been looking pretty decent. I hope it continues.

Mets beat the Phillies, 6-1. Still in second place.

All this without Wright hitting the ball.

Rained out tonight. Guess we get to stay in second place for, at least, one more day.

One month of baseball in the books and the Mets are sitting in second place (15-11, .577, 2.0 GB). Couldn't ask for anything better at this point.

Mets decide to wait until the 9th to score some runs and drop one to the Rockies last night, 7-4. Colon got ROCKED...yet again!! Wright continues not to hit.

The commentators keep saying to be patient and give Wright and Granderson at least another month to produce. Really??!! Colon looked really slow (more than ussual) and not into the game at all. Something didn't look right with him.

Another month??? What the hell did they keep him in extended spring training for this year? Wasn't it supposed to work on his core? It seems to have worked well Murphy. Wright...not so much. Granderson has never hit for a high average. I knew he wasn't gonna hit 40 homers at Citifield. Right field is a lot deeper than at Yankee stadium. But he's still better than what he's hitting right now.

I'm not even sure I like or trust Grandersons arm in right field. He doesn't seem to be able to throw very well the last couple games. Especially last night. Oh well, give him another month!
