In the Electric Mist (2009) with Tommy Lee Jones & John Goodman, adapted from the James Lee Burke novel "In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead." Hard to follow story line, not all that well directed, but a semi-clothed , poolside John Goodman does smoke a corona-sized unbanded something or other. That looks like it has a bad burn. Kinda like the movie.

Re: Cigars in Cinema
So I got another obscure one:
Rancho Notorious (1952, Marlene Dietrich.) I was flipping channels the other night and came across this on AMC-Westerns. I don't know much about classic westerns, but this is supposed to be a good one. Bunch of seedy criminal cowboy types were up to no good in a saloon casino, most of them were smoking away. Would sure love to get my hands on some of what they were smoking back there in '52.

Re: Cigars in Cinema
I was watching The Da Vinci Code the other day and I noticed two scenes where Lt. Collet (I think) had a cigar. One scene he was looking at it while talking to Langdon (Hanks) and the other he was smoking it. Looked to be some sort of figurado.

Re: Cigars in Cinema
There's a scene in Yellowbeard (a sort-of-Python flick) where James Mason has a girl on his lap covered by a sheet, I think, and he says somethign like "What do you think I'm doing? I'm smoking a cigar." Very dirty!!!

Re: Cigars in Cinema
In the move I Love You, Man Jon Favreau is seen I believe smoking a Cuban Cohiba. Definitely smoking a cigar and I'm pretty sure it's a Cuban Cohiba.

King Kong (1976) Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange
Smoking cigars and pipes on the voyage back to the States with Kong. Steal This Movie (2000) Vincent D'Onofrio, Janeane Garofalo Vincent as Abby Hoffman smoking a cigar after the birth of his son, among other cigar scenes.

Re: Cigars in Cinema
This is getting bumped to the top again because I found another movie and it is a great topic in general. I was copying a movie from the recorder on my cable box to my dvd recorder and realized that a true classic that involves both beer and cigars is missing from the list. This hallowed movie is Beerfest. How did we miss it? I consign this cinema classic to the keeper of the lists as soon as his Hawks lose. Tom, my wife already told me what to do with myself this morning so a pile on is not needed.

Re: Cigars in Cinema
Aliens (1986) Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn,
Lance Henriksen, Al Matthews (Apone) Sgt Apone has a cigar in his mouth as they are coming out of suspended animation after the long space voyage. "All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps! " I'm not sue if he still has a cigar in his mouth after the grunts piss off the officer--but I wouldn't be surprised. Apone: Allright, sweethearts, you heard the man and you know the drill! Assholes and elbows! Great movie

Re: Cigars in Cinema
One good thing about being home sick is getting to catch up on movies I have wanted to watch.
Revolver (2005) Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Vincent Pastore http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365686/ Pastore is smoking cigars throughout the film; you get a couple of glimpses of him smoking near the end of the trailer. I thought it was a pretty good movie...I got a little confused at the ending though but it was good up till that point!
