Why did the Pats go for it on 4th down?

That will be debated for weeks now, especially since Faulk was pushed back. Looked like he was juggling at first and when he gained control, the ball was on the "good" side of the marker. Good for Colts.
Thanks to everyone keeping it reasonably civil for the week. ![]() ![]()

The other thing is why throw a pass that would be so close to the first down anyway. He should have punted and let the defense to the job.

I'm not gonna lie. When Peyton threw the pick with 7 minutes to go in the 4th down 10 I went to bed. I almost died when I saw the score this morning. I was a bad fan last night lol

I should have known. I turned the channel once and they scored. Then when I turned it back to the game to check the score Peyton IMMEDIATELY throws a pick. So...I just went back to watching something else in hopes that I was just jinxing them lol. I get really superstitious about stuff like that.

Wow, a game that lived up to the hype! I have to admit I was nervous throughout, even when we had the big lead. Unfortunately it was justified.
Congrats to the Colts and their fans for a nice win in a great game. See you later..... in the playoffs.

My guess would be he was thinking his defense wasn't up for the challenge.

"Bill Belichick has lost his mojo -- to Peyton Manning. Belichick's controversial decision to go for it on fourth-and-2 from New England's 28, which facilitated the completion of the Colts' comeback, shouldn't be surprising considering how the rivalry has gone of late. Early in the decade, Belichick was cited as a defensive mastermind for coming up with pressure schemes that consistently frustrated Manning. From the 2001 season through the 2004 AFC playoffs, New England won six straight over Indianapolis. But then the power shifted, and Indianapolis has now won five of six since November 2005. No longer is Manning fazed by Belichick, and the previously fearless coach now shows great respect for Manning, especially since the Colts' Super Bowl breakthrough." -- The Sporting News' Vinny Iyer
