Went to a Bell's dinner last night and had their Oarsman, Pale Ale, Amber, Two Hearted, Dopplebock, and Black Note. Had a couple 7oz glasses of Black Note and while it was good, it wasn't as mind blowing as the hype led me to believe. Had some Victory at Sea Imperial Vanilla Porter after, it was very tasty.

I was fortunate enough to try Black Note twice within a couple weeks, once out of bottle and once out of keg. The bottle version was very good, but not mind blowing IMO. The keg version, IMO, was better and more unique. The bottle version tasted like a very well made bourbon imp. stout (very dark fruity-raisin-y), whereas the keg version really seemed unique in that the double cream stout portion really came through more and made for a unique beer.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed a difference?

I love the Bitter American for a relatively low ABV beer that's still good and hoppy.
