Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
None of the van Winkle whiskies are bottled in minis. If you want an opportunity to sample various bourbons, you should consider attending the Bourbon Sampler in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is one of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival events and will be held the last Saturday in April 2011. All of the major distilleries are there handing out samples of their bourbons. For more information, go to The Kentucky Bourbon Festival website.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
My wife picked up the liter for me for my birthday and this is one fine bourbon. I had to run out and grab some cheaper favorites to keep me off that bottle. Definitely good juice.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Thanks guys, I did a lot of searching on the internet and could not find any mini's, oh well, guess I will have to save up for a bottle. I am really enjoying the Makers 46 currently. Think I will pick up Buffalo Trace next as i have heard good things and the price is right!

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Had a nice haul this week. Bottle of Van Winkle 12, 15, and the 107 proof. I can't get enough of the 12.
My favorite right now, unfortunately is the rare bottle of Fred Noe Bookers that I picked up. Such an amazing, and complex bourbon. Too bad I'll likely never come across another... |

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
my exact reaction... it was the last two bottle.
The SA open the glass case, and I only wanted one. I sat there for a good 2 minute thinking. Then he just hand me the last bottle and I was like why not?!

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Having a Weller 12yr pour right now. Weller is so underrated. 12yr, 90prf (wish it was 100), very nice bourbon, for $22 a 750 where I got it. Can't beat it.
The best bourbon I've had to date, definitely over Pappy 15 - William Larue Weller 12yr, barrel proof unfiltered, 126 proof. Amazing. Neat, room temp, no burn and crazy smooth, amazing flavor, then a late warming of the torso. Never had a bourbon like it. |

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
having a pour of Bakers 7yr 107 proof. Warming up for the celebration to come, I think I will get the Stagg out tonite though I'll be the only one drinking nobody else that will be around can handle it. What's everybody else drinking tonite?

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I was fortunate enough to obtain a few bottles of 15 yr old Elmer T Lee special release, single barrel bourbon. The regular bottling is quite good. I expect this special release to be exceptional.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
What are your 1st, 2nd & 3rd, best "New To You" Bourbons that you tried in 2010?
If you do not have 3, don't sweat it. Just one, or even two, will be fine. Don't hesitate to elaborate if you'd like!
