How fresh was it? They all should have a 'bottled date' on them.

My point being, if it wasn't super fresh (even a couple months could be considered "too old"), there's your problem. Hop aroma and flavor fade so quickly at that level, its best to drink super fresh. That's the appeal of this beer, the huge hope aroma and flavor (and the dry finish, to me anyway), so if its old and lacking that, then yes the appeal suffers.

Had pours of Grreat Lakes Nosferatu and Founders Breakfast Stout with the fellas at Anthonys last nite. Looking forward to having Yuengling available. Hopefully NB will expand eventually.

It was brand new stock. Tasted very similar to New Belgium Ranger IPA to me. IDK. Maybe I was just expecting too much. Same thing goes for In n out burger. After all the build up, it is just a cheeseburger.

Here lately, I have really come to enjoy Dos Equis & Blue Moon. I have always loved Red Stripe. There is a store here where you can make your own 6-pack out of different imports...great way to try new ones that your not sure if you will like & not have to buy the whole 6-pack. I tried close to 40 different ones from there & liked alot of them. Here is a pic of a few that were really good.

Yesterday had some Starr Hill Boxcar, a pumpkin porter. Spiced just right, and the porter character really added a "pumpkin pie crust"-like character. Good brew, not sure how widespread Starr Hill's distribution is, but pick some up if you like this style beer.

Just recently picked up a few new to me. Had Shipyard's Smashed Pumpkin Ale the other day back-to-back with Dogfish Head's Punkin' Ale. They both succeeded pretty well in making nicely spiced pumpkin offerings. I think the Shipyard was a little better, but DFH gets a lot of credit for an aftertaste that tastes exactly like pumpkin pie.

Last night I had a DFH Palo Santo Marron. Wow, that's not a beer to underestimate. At 12% abv, it hits hard, but the alcohol wasn't too overpowering. I like it, but I'll probably keep it around as a once in a while thing.
