Went to a Cigar City Brewing tasting of wood aged beers last night. Most were one-offs and not commercially available.

The list included; cedar, maple, raw oak, toasted oak, and hickory.

The beers that got these treatments were their IPA, RIS (Zhukov), Saison, Maduro Brown, and an as yet unreleased Belgian style that was super spicy aged with the cedar (it was INTENSE).

Overall a very interesting night and some great beers. My favorites were the Zhukov and the raw oak IPA (soooo much better IMO than with the cedar).

The Hop Scotch release at Tequesta Brewing is tonight right? Randall mentioned it last night. He also said Cigar City is taking over at Funky Buddha on Thursday.

Who would have thought, too many craft beer events in South Florida!!

That's a good thing.

Trout River knight slayer right now. Grabbed one of the Stone Escondidian's to drink tonight too. Not usually one to grab the new releases, but I love me a dark IPA.

Had it a few times when I was at the Farm House (think that was its name). I Grabbed a few packs and brought them to Providence RI. I tried to drink as much of it as I could when I was there.

Tequesta Hopscotch. Not sure what to make of this beer. Bottle was underfilled and undercarbonated. Really hoppy for a scotch ale. Reminds me of a black ipa. And I'm not getting much of the oak. overall underwhelmed.

Sam Adams Campfire Rauchbier from the Harvest Sampler. Interesting by itself. Very smokey as one would expect from a "smoked " beer. Friggin awesome paired with a cigar. Wish i had some more.
