I think the Avs have lots of gas and inspiration, and the Hawks are gassed. Still proud as Hell of my Boys, though.

MD is having a year so far... Wonder if it's just natural progression or just the fear of Landeskog/ROR is pushing him to another level.

MD is just a helluva hockey player...if (or when) the Avs can shore up their D, they will be a factor in the West.

+1 Impressive start. Put hockey back in the public's eye after the lockout.

You know I am hoping for that run in April and May.

Hope the Avs can get to at least 7th, so they don't have to play the Hawks in Round 1....though I hear the golfing is nice in Denver in April. J/K.

I didn't even think of that being so caught up in the streak, but ain't that the truth.

Classy comments from a couple of the Avs' stars last night:

Quote:
the Avs (9-10-4), who finally slayed the NHL’s goliath, took in the moment and recognized the Hawks’ accomplishment as well.

“What a run by them, first of all,” Avs center Matt Duchene said. “Congratulations to that team. What a run they had.”

“They’re the hottest team in the NHL -- in the history of the NHL -- right now,” Ryan O'Reilly added. “They’re a great team.”

Avs have been flying around the ice the last 10 days. Wins/losses, whatever...playing great hockey. Again tonight(1st against the Sharks)... Not a great record, but the kids are skating...if they can keep playing well, they're dangerous.

Yup, the Hawks showed a lot of character in the 3rd and almost pulled off another miracle finish. 3 days off, time to get back on track.

The Wild are finally starting to gel. Playing really well right now. Scoring from all lines, defensemen too. Power play finally working again. Fun to watch.

Wish I could make tge same statement about the sharks. Disaster. Similar to Rangers situation.
Atleast there is plenty of good hockey to watch.

Got a feeling the powers that be are going to do something. The Sharks are underachieving like never before. Cant see firing the coach.

In my thinking, this probably didn't save Dan Bylsma. I think he's gone this year and the only thing keeping him behind the bench is the short season. If he can't engineer his way past the built-to-beat-the-Pens Flyer Scum on a regular basis, it shows a huge weakness in his ability to coach our club.

It's much the same as the Ravens building their club to get through the Steelers. They know they have to go through them to take home the hardware. They've done that successfully. The Pens haven't done that vs. the Flyer Scum.
Last night they got lucky. That ain't gonna get it. We need a couple mentally deranged mucking defensemen, one of which can handle a puck. Ulf Murphy.
I love the Ulf Murphy analogy!

But...I don't think Disco Dan is going anywhere. The Pens D sucked hard for a while, and they are still not where they should be but the Pens have always been great at developing talent and when they can't get what they need that way, they make big trades.

I heard they were interested in Jack Johnson, and several CBJ personel were in Pittsburgh last week. I just wonder who would be involved in that trade!

Nice win by the Wild tonight! Suter and Parise with two assists each. We are really seeing why they are getting paid like they are. Cullen has been playing like a man possessed lately as well.
For a shortened season, this is really shaping up to be a lot of fun!
