Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
AJF New World Cameroon Torpedo - first off, this cigar seems more narrow than it should be, but personally I like that, I'm not a fan of larger ring gauges that are longer than traditional robustos. Had this resting for about 1.5 months which has proved sufficient, but I'd recommend letting it rest 2-3 months if you get any for yourself. Peppery start, then a familiar New World profile follows, accented by notes of wood, caramel & spice. Pretty much a textbook Cameroon, in other words. Lacks the sophistication of the original New World Oscuro imo. I'll be revisiting this one in another month or so. |

Oh and hey Clay looks like Tom hasn't seen your question yet, the brand he is smoking appears to be La Flor Dominicana, if you look for that brand online Im sure you can find the corresponding band/blend.

Smoked an Opus X Lost City tonight. Came from a box I bought a few years ago and I must say that these have not been worth the coin. Good cigars, but not $30 a pop good.

Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
Dunbarton Umbagog Toro - I read this was named for being too ugly, but the wrapper looks beautiful to me! Personally, I think they named it after what you say when you see a beautiful woman walk past you! (Thanks folks - I'll be here all week, please remember to tip the staff...) Back to the point, the Umbagog is great. Definitely more on the medium side of medium-full, if it was only a little stronger I'd think it was an ace. That said it is immensely flavorful and if you like the Mi Quierda (supposedly a similar blend) then you'll love this one, they are absolutely similar. So yeah I'd recommend this stick, but if you are a full bodied smoker I'd definitely plan on saving these for a breakfast smokes only. |
