Padron 64 Principe natural.
I took the advice of the guy at the B & M and a little later I started having buyers remorse. I thought the ole lady would kill me for spending $10.40 for a cigar. After a couple of minutes into this smoke I did care if she got mad. I was in heaven.

Hava-Tampas in the 80's for something to smoke while in the Navy. Then totally just quit buying them. Had a bad day in spring of '08 and stepped into a smoke shop and bought a La Gloria Cubana Serie R. smoked it about 1/2 hour later at the lake and knocked me to the deck and dragged me around. Started buying and collecting cigars since.

First cigar that really wowed me after a decade and a half of machine made cheap cigars was a La Aroma de Cuba Robusto.

Months later I had my first Bolivar Royal Corona, and it was all over for me.

I believe the question was "which was first?"

Oddly for me, it was the CAO Italia that sparked my interest in cigars. They were aged for a long time, and they tasted amazing.

The first one that really wowed me was a Padron Anniversary 64 Maduro Torpedo. I had been smoking Montesino Sun-Grown Robusto. My wife went into the B&M that had been leading me down the slippery slope and said she wanted to buy something special for my birthday. He asked her "What year was he born?" Her answer "1964" It was all downhill from there! That was my first "wow" smoke. For me, it was like breathing in the smell of chocolate cake baking in the oven. It's still one of my favorite smokes.

Default Re: First cigar to light your fire?

I lurked for a little bit at the old place before even making my first purchase, I went into the B&M armed with a list of suggestions, and came out with an Onyx Reserve, RP Vintage '90, and an RyJ tubo. All were decent smokes, and the '90 remains one of my favorite RP sticks.
The first cigar that really made me sit up and take notice was a Bucanero Full Sail Maddie that I got in the NST, followed shortly after by a Kristoff Maddie at my first herf.

After a ~4 year absence from cigars, it was an EO Murcielago. I still enjoy it on occasion.

I still recall smoking a 1996 FFOX Double Corona that really turned me onto cigars. It was a great 2+ hour experience.
