Re: First Firearm Thread.
I'm looking at purchasing my first hand gun. I will mostly use it at the range and not primarily a conceal and carry. That being said, I have found three that I really like. The Glock 23, Springfield's XD, and the Sig P250. I love the way all three of these shoot. I'm leaning towards the Sig because it is a modular handgun and you can buy the conversion kit to change out the full size to the subcompact size when needed. Thought?

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I own a Glock 23 and personally I love it. Its good to shoot at the range but isnt to large to carry conceled if you need to.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
The Glock was probably my favorite to shoot. The price point of the Sig and the functionality of it are selling me right now......

Well from what I've seen the 250 is the black sheep of the sig line among sig fans

Re: First Firearm Thread.
The good thing about Glocks is that with a barrel and sometimes mag swap you can change calliber. 40SW --> 357 sig etc. Glocks are very simple and easy to work on.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Indeed. I can shoot the 40,9,357 and I'd have to double check but might even be able to shoot the 10 all out of one gun with the required changes of corse.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
9mm requires mag change and the 10mm can only be shot out of the 45 models with barrel and mag changes.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Yeh. the 357 is just a 40 case necked down to take a 9mm bullet. since the bulk of the case is the same and the part that contacts the follower is the same, they have the same follower. Much like you can shoot 300BLK in a 300BLK AR with regular 5.56 mags.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I wish some of the other polymer handguns would come out in 10mm. Got a pair of Glock model 20s. They do the job for carry in bear/wild boar country but I seem to shoot the Springfield XD guns better. Not very much hands on with the Smith Wesson M&P's but I believe the same is true for me with those versus the Glocks.
I've owned a Colt Delta Elite but sold it after realizing I was not gonna use it for carry out in the wilds. Too dang pretty.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
That's the same as the Sig p250. It can change out from full to compact, to sub compact. Also can change cal from 9 to 40 to 45 ACP. Won't do 10 though.

In my opinion the Sig 250 is meant to compete with the Tarus Millennium and pistols of that appeal. There is no one pistol that can adapt to all scenarios, kind of like trying to use a hammer as a screw driver, paint brush or level, lol . Generally “Modular” do it all designs only attract first time buyers. Like mentioned already my Glock’s are usually my go to gun, personally if its your first CCW handgun I would recommend you look at the G19 also right now still in love with my XD's. 45 although I am not a HUGE XD fan.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I'm in a similar boat as Pete, I have decided on 2 different pistols and need to pick one; both in 40 S&W and both fully ambidextrous (I'm a lefty).
First is the Walther PPQ known for their excellent ergos and possibly the best trigger of any polymer pistol. Comes with 2 mags with 12 round capacity and 3 interchangeable back straps. The other is the FNH FNS. Good trigger, external safety, night sights standard, 3 14 round mags, 2 back straps and a lower bore axis than the PPQ. The prices are almost identical (within 20 dollars). Any advice would be appreciated.
