I did half a lb of the same yesterday. Could only get to city +. Too low of ambient temp inthe garage is not conducive to roasting into second crack. It'll still be good.

Anyone ever buy Jamaican blue mountain green beans and roast them? Thinking about it...

Anything else look appealing?

Here's a place that caught my eye.

www.bodhileaftrading.com

Found a post from them on the coffee buying club forum offering a 20% discount. Going to give these a try:

Brazil Bob-O-Link 5#
Malawi AA Plus Estate Panwamba 5#
Zimbabwe AA Plus Estate Salimba 5 #

15# came out to $5.24/lb shipped.

Coupon code is CLUB2012.

Came in today. They also included the last two prints of Roast Magazine. I'm impressed so far.

Zimbabwe AA Plus Estate Salimba ROTT.

This particular bean seems to be taking 2-3 more minutes than most other varieties to get to FC+ in my Poppery II.

I have noticed that certain beans take very different times. Sometimes having to do with the size of the bean itself or maybe even if it was Dry or Wet Processed.

Sumatra Lintong Tano Batak

This stuff was weird to roast. For starters, the beans were large and a darker shade of green. The roast time seemed to be fairly long and I roasted into the start of 2nd crack shooting for FC+. Although I still have some chaff in the cracks, the beans are nearly black, very expanded and some have some chunks missing from them, as if it's closer to a French. Anyone have any experience with Sumatra? Is it normal for the beans to have a darker shade?

I had similar experiences with this bean. I couldn't get mine to 2nd crack in the hot air popper. First batch I did barely made any sound for first crack, just one big pop, then not much else.
