Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
Well in a week and a half I'm gonna order up a new knife. Looking for a sub $250 knife. Any recommendations?

Autos are also allowed. I'm looking at the ZT301, ZT350 and some autos right now

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
Take a look at protech, their tr3 and 4 are both amazing knives very well made and 100% us produced, which is why they use CM154 instead of the newer stuff, I however happen to love 154 as I find it a lot easier to sharpen... yeah. Get a protech.....

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
+1 on the 154CM -- my EDC Benchmade has it and I like it. Holds a decent edge, and sharpens easily without spending 20 min at the stone. A few deft strokes on a fine grit stone or a ceramic honing rod every once in a while will keep her like a razor.

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
Well, this isn't exactly a "pocket" knife, but it seems this thread does double duty as the only "blade" related thread here, so I figured I'd share my new acquisition. (and they make pocket knives too )
I generally consider Shun Classics to be great knives, but a little overpriced, something of equal quality with perhaps less aesthetics can usually be had for less. But when I saw this one for 45% off... well I couldn't resist (I know the pics are a little cheesy, I was doing something else with the camera and just tossed the blade and a block in there on a whim!)

The only negative on it is the left-handed thumbstud. It is near impossible to get to and the jimping can bite you when using the flipper although neither issue is too bad... As for autos, I haven't played with any as I cannot carry them so I can't help you there.

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
I've got Bear's Parang and love it, especially for the price. I don't personally like the color design but that's low on my list of priorities in a practical machete lol

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
When I say just picked it up, I mean I've had if for about two months now...anyway, I was put off by the color as well but for the $24 price tag I wasn't that put off. I took it to California for NTC (National Training Center (for pre deployment training)) and it survived some of the harshest conditions I will probably have to put it through.

This knife makes me
It's a Hogue EX01. I've seen good reviews of it on BF
