Here is what I picked up at the DPG event at Habana today. I was not able to post the Series JJ Maduro since that went up in smoke immediately. These are all new DPG's for me.

Bought a brand that is only locally available. Got a box for a very good price. The box also doubles as a 20ct desktop humi! Very nice looking too. these cigars are GREAT! The Private Reserve Habano Torpedo

Bought a Punch Magnum double maddy, AF Flor Fina 8-5-8 Maduro, AF Rothschilds, and an oliva V torpedo today. that punch will be my first NC Punch. I hope it's good. I'm not a huge fan of their cuban line.

Chris,

What are these? I have seen these same boxes in my local B&M here in Southwest VA and have never been able to figure out what they are/who makes them. I guess I could ask someone, but that is too simple. I'd rather puzzle about it on my own. Any knowledge you can drop on me?

I had sworn off purchases because of 1) SCHIP and 2) oral surgery. Why buy when I'm going to pay more, and get to enjoy less?

Well, today I hit the mall doing some Mother's Day shopping (who waits to the last minute?). I made my purchases for the wife, and we heading for the door, only to realize that the sky had turned terribly dark and it was pouring down rain. I could wait it out, and visit the stores closest to the door. There was a Cinnabon (getting a LOT of traffic), and a Tinder Box with nobody inside. I had only visited this store once, and picked up a few sticks to help him out. I rarely get to the mall, so they don't get a lot of visits from me.

Well, I hit the humidor, and was impressed! I had gotten some Padrons here before, and they had a good supply of all vitolas. They even had a little sign recommeding that you ask about their 1964 sampler packs. Sounded like a good idea, so I turned to head to the register. As I turned, however, something on the floor caught my eye. I did one of those comedic double-takes that cause injury in the elderly and infirmed.

There on the floor were THREE boxes of Anejos. I was in shock. They weren't full, but I guess they had been there since the holidays. There was a nearly full box of 50's, but I opted to grab the box of 46's with a dozen soldiers resting comfortably in it. I fully expected to be told there was a purchase limit at the register, but nope. A dozen goodies for me!

Nope. The "Sharks" are the "77" vitola. These are "46," a 46 ring guage. The "50" is true robusto, I believe.

I may head back tomorrow. That would be quite a Mother's Day celebration for ol' dad.
