For that price I would expect it to be refinished. Looks like it would need quite a bit of work before I'd want my cigars anywhere near it.

Absolutely gorgeous.
Oddly, as pretty as it is, it's not a handmade/heirloom item. It's the period equivalent of a chinese cheapo.
It's still gorgeous, nonetheless. People from the Victorian era really had a taste for craftsmanship and truly appreciated the trades. I think people would appreciate it as much today if the cost of labor didn't push handcrafted perfection out of reach of most everyone.
