Where were all these great fancy torches that are available today, back in the days when I was smoking coke? I would've loved something like that...

Rocky Patel has a 5 flame torch about 1.5 inches around and 7 inches tall. Very nice and portable as well. Sorry no picture if I find one I'll send it.

This thing is heavy in my hand and holds a TON of butane. Its been very reliable as well. If you use the free shipping link, it's a pretty good deal too at $30.00. I've always wanted to try one of those mini spot welders pictured in other threads, but haven't had the need with this one. Just my ![]() |

What type of butane are you guys using for the Perdomo Thundra lighter? Does it have to be triple refined?

YES! Lava or Vector are very good brands. ![]()

The better butanes don't necessarily cost more either. For example; Vector Signature which is 5x refined, costs $6 to $8 for a 10oz can at Williams-Sonoma cooking stores and Cigars International, and probably about the same elsewhere too. Guess what? a 2.75 oz can of crappy Ronson gas costs $3 at wal-mart. In the long run, you'll end up paying more by buying the chit Ronson gas. Furthermore, butane is almost a negligible cost once you average out how long a can will last you. Admittedly, I don't have any lighters that drink butane like the Thundra but, I'm still using the same can of Vector that I bought about 3 years ago - and it probably has about 3 oz of gas remaining. I guess I could weigh it and weigh the second can that I bought that I haven't even unwrapped yet to determine exactly... |

Would there be any reason not to mix brands? Suppose I have a bit of Xicar left, and a full can of Colibri. Can I use them both to fill the same lighter?

I've found the Colibri fuel burns the cleanest in any lighter I've ever put it in...even the Vecter 5X has clogged up a lighter or two for me on occasion...
Here's a fairly inexpensive table top torch lighter on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Be interesting to see if their gas supplier and/or gas quality stays the same after they finish the post-bankruptcy restructure. |

Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't mix the butanes. Dr. Peter Venkman: Why? Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad. Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"? Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal. Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon. (nah, not really, you can mix them it won't hurt anything) |
