But my kids are pretty wrapped up in the youth program, and my wife is happy there, so I can't see disrupting everyone else in the family. I've tried addressing that the Bible says "be sober", it doesn't say, "don't drink", but I didn't make any headway with that arguement.
Yea, I for the most part like Baptist church. I had my own motocross ministry and it was doing very well. I was attending a Baptist church and I wanted to help out with the high school kids, there were a lot of them and my good friend was the youth pastor...but the adult to kid ratio wasn't very good (needed more adults) I offered to help and the head deacon ask me if I drank (he knew I did) and I said yes. He said they would have to decline my offer. I asked him why, and he said cause I drank. And then I asked him if that was one of their man made laws of if he could point out a place in the Bible that said NOT to drink. His reply was 'we choose to abstain from alcohol'

Good thread here and good to see others who share this belief. Cigars are not exclusive to non believers.

I think the point is we are "Christians", and not Baptists, Catholics, Episcopalians, etc. What matters is our own personal relationship with "The Lord". Thanks for the Thread!

Default Re: Cigars and God

I grew up in a southern baptist church and there is no way I would ever meet with my old pastor for a drink and a smoke

Thats an awesome story nevertheless...
