I've always heard it would take a big win for US soccer to get back on the map again and gain the large following soccer gets worldwide.

I really don't think even winning the world cup would do it. Its not about understanding the game or playing the game its just that we as Americans have so many entertainment options that soccer will likely just remain a niche sport here.

Just as baseball or football aren't popular in other countries, soccer will never gain the popularity enjoyed in other countries.

I want to see the US win anything on the world stage but I hate it when all of the soccer elitists complain that we "just don't get it" or are too stupid to understand the game.

Soccer is just really slow, boring hockey. There's really nothing to "get".
(I coached soccer for 6 or 7 years, won 4 season championships. Lots of days I'd rather have gone to a dentist appointment.)

That's alright, lets see Brazil put together a football team and try to go across the middle against Ray Lewis or put together a D line that could contain Adrian Peterson!

I'd love to see Manning or Brady pick apart the Brazilian D!

As strong a half of football as I've seen the US play - ever.

As strong as the field play has been, Tim Howard has been spectacular.

Between Donovan and Howard, I don't know who has had the most impact!

Donovan has the one goal and a few intangible effort plays...
But, Howard has the one point blank save and a couple of screamers that he's knocked away!

This isn't a dream, this is history in the making!
