I'm in the same boat as Bill86. I used to have a pretty vast collection. I'm down to a few now myself.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Thinking of picking up a Benchmade Shoki 480 pretty soon. I have a few other Benchmade and Kershaw knives, however, they can be a bit tatical in apperance and scare the sheep when used around the office. The Shoki 480 just looks classy.

I haven't bought from them yet, but that would explain it. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
A lot of knives you'll find are made in taiwan and japan. The quality is pretty poor. IMHO without being a douchebag, any knife you buy under say $75 bucks that ISN'T from a major company you can bet it's a knock off or a China cheapie. You'll just end up hurting yourself and it's really not worth it. There are fantastic knives out there in the $50-$100 range that aren't of questionable origin.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Also just added a Sam McDonell to my collection today. Its certainly a beautiful knife and a return to my roots.

Here are some pics of some of my blades:
Here's an Afghan sword dated 1896. Is it real? Sure. There it is. Is it from 1896 or 2006? Who knows. Afghan Martini-Enfield bayonet (Pattern 1903 by Wilkinson)

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Here's an Afghan Officer's sword from about 1910 or so, it's a beautiful piece:
No Afghan collection would be complete without a "Khyber knife": The Khyber knife again with a smaller companion:

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
The 2 top ones look like stage coach bayonetts. The have a coach gun that has springloaded bayonettes on them that are cool if you find an origginal there about 10-15Gs.

Top British bayonet is for a Pattern 1853 rifled musket, such as this 1856 Tower:

Here's a couple more picks they were to big to upload. But the one that is gold I picked up in Egypt when I was passing through. And then most of the rest I have gotten over the years from my grandfather.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I'm a little late with this but Today I found out Lone Wolf was bought by Benchmade. While this may get lone wolf designs out there and more affordable Im sure going to miss the hand crafted quality of Lone Wolf. Please don't screw this up Benchmade.
R.I.P. Lone Wolf.
