<1903 Springfield at Present Arms>
</1903 Springfield at Present Arms> A bit of additional history for this day...this was also the day that the first American POWs were taken, when the US Marine legation guards at Tientsin and Peking, as well as the last Yangtze River gunboat and its crew (USS Wake, at Shanghai) were forced to surrender to Japanese forces.
