Dear Lord, Thank You.

Re: Snake meat?
When we were kids, we hunted rattlesnakes all the time. Hunted might be a little strong. Someone would say "There's a @$@#!$@ rattlesnake on my porch!!!!" and I'd go drop a cement block on it (or whatever other handy device I had). We whacked a lot of them while we were fishing, too. They liked to sun where we liked to fish.
I always got the task of skinning them because everyone was afraid they'd get poisoned to death. My brother and I would tack them out, dry them and make hatbands and stuff out of them. The old man always told us they were good eatin', but I was just barely comfortable enough to skin them. I wasn't gonna eat them. I still never have, even though I know it's irrational.

Re: Snake meat?
I had rattlesnake a few times a long time ago. I remember it tasting like greasy chicken. Now after having pet snakes I'm not sure I could eat it. I'd rather eat cute animals.
