Also, not knowing your family situation, you should outline the terms of the agreement between you and your family before purchasing to know who gets what in a sale, buyout prices, sale prices and who owns what percentages. I know its family, but there are always situations where people will have problems. Particularly with the passing of one or more members of the agreement, as you will likely be purchasing the land for years and years.

Any chance of being able to scout the land for the hunting purposes? I would definitely talk a nice walk through the property to look for sign before purchasing the land for hunting. Of course if you plan on a food plot then they come to you...

Re: Any advice on buying land?
Sounds like a pretty decent deal. I forget that land prices are much higher around here compared to the $1000 an acre you can get in Northern Michigan.

Re: Any advice on buying land?
Pretty cool lookin'. I would certainly check on the gun restrictions, it doesn't appear to be all that far from homes and neighbors.

Re: Any advice on buying land?
I don't think it would be a problem. It is out in the country and the neighbors were all out at the auction and were stoked that we bought it. My cousin got his huge turkey from this property. He is a state trooper for IN, and his neighbor is a retired state trooper.

Re: Any advice on buying land?
My dad, brother, and I were huddled up trying to do the math while the 2nd lot was going up for sale. My dad was still doing calculations when my brother placed the bid. We were like WTF!
It is all good though. The land is more valuable as a 22.something lot compared to a 11.something lot. |

Re: Any advice on buying land?
That's what I would have expected...wooded acreage is more in the $2500/acre price than $1k. I sold my brother my share of the woods for $2500/acre 2 years ago, albeit an hour north of Indy.

Re: Any advice on buying land?
Thank you sir. It is nice to have a country location. I have a feeling I will be taking multiple trips out there to spend time with my cousins and to just sit in a chair and smoke cigars. It is so relaxing and peaceful. It is nice to get out of an urban environment and go to a quiet place
