IMO, I always try to steer newbies to coolers instead of wood humis, if they aren't using it as a display. The maintenance is MUCH easier. The real benefit of moving to a cooler for me was storage space, obviously, but the fact I don't have to do much with it makes it 10x better. All I have to do is recharge my beads every 4 months or so, and I'm done. I don't have to worry about the seal, or anything else for that matter.
Perhaps I'm just lazy, or don't really appreciate a good traditional humidor, but unless I was going to use a large cabinet as part of a room decor, there is no chance I'd go back to desktop style humis again. Too much of a pain in the a$$ for so little storage space. |
