Re: is there a diffrence.
I would agree that for the average cigar smoker, it's just a hobby. But, the average cigar smoker is the guy who picks up a couple of White Owls or Dutch Masters on the way to the golf course. I think most of the members here are far from the average cigar enthusiast.
On golfwrx.com (another forum I frequent) there are many members with a full-on club building workshops. They swap out shafts and try new equipment as often as the average golfer buys a new glove. Similarly, there are members here whose collections would put many B&Ms to shame. Hell, I have cigars in my humi that my local shop has never heard of, and I've just scratched the surface of what's out there. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: is there a diffrence.
Bastage!!!
Yeah, I am old and feel it. 50 hurts every morning as I awake. Hurst more as they day progresses. Moral? Don't beat up on your body when young. It does come back to haunt you!!! By the way, I was 29 at the time I quit. Use to do up to two packs a day. Started as a teenager to be cool like all the other idiots like me. Tried to quit many times over. Went a day short of a year once on a bet with a friend. Won the bet as told him it looked like I was going to make it for sure. Shook hands that bet was off to spare him owing me the $100. As I was done shaking hands, lit the cigarette in front of him.

A big part of cigars is enjoying them with friends. U don't see cigarette smokers traveling to smoke together like BOTLs!

H2O is one of the chemicals, so is CO2. 4000? Who counted?
The paper burning gets me. The smell, the burning in your eyes, the taste. Like smoldering newspaper. The flash dried tobacco is not the same as the cured tobacco in cigars either. |

Re: is there a diffrence.
Excerpt:
Tobacco companies reporting this information were: American Tobacco Company Brown and Williamson Liggett Group, Inc. Philip Morris Inc. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company While these ingredients are approved as additives for foods, they were not tested by burning them, and it is the burning of many of these substances which changes their properties, often for the worse. Over 4000 chemical compounds are created by burning a cigarette, many of which are toxic and/or carcinogenic. Carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanide and ammonia are all present in cigarette smoke. Forty-three known carcinogens are in mainstream smoke, sidestream smoke, or both.

Re: is there a diffrence.
I will disagree I think that tolerance breeds tolerance.
If I tolerant the cig smoke which I am not a fan of maybe next time he is out he will tolerate my cigar smoke. Or maybe when he and his friends are out the will talk to them before they ask me to stop smoking. Two last points. A cigarette takes 2 mins easy to deal so its more likey going to take longer to deal with the smoker then the smoke. Plus I think that the cigar, pipe, cigarette, hookah, etc. need to stick together as much as possible - with what seems like everyone against us we need all the support we can get. |

And how many of those known carcinogens are also found in cigar smoke, or any smoke for that matter? Most of them. All smoke is packed full of various compounds, some is just worse than others. |

Re: is there a diffrence.
BBQed meat is loaded with known carcinogens. There are people who will only eat raw vegetables and drink purified water. They will not survive with the cockroaches when the end comes.

Re: is there a diffrence.
Not to change the subject too much but we I've wrestled with cigarette smokers vs. cigar smokers when it comes to rights. In the past, I was agitated by estblishments that allowed cigarette smoking but not cigars/pipes. This made me anti-cigarette. Now ALL smokers are getting hit by the anti-smokers. Now I feel that I have to stand up for all smokers rights in order to try to preserve mine.
